The Moses Mendelssohn Center for European-Jewish Studies conducts fundamental research in history, cultural studies, religion and social sciences. The focus is on the history, religion and culture of Jews in the countries of Europe, especially in the German-speaking lands.

The work at the MMZ is always historically informed and yet keeps an eye on contemporary society. This is precisely why a focus on outreach and digital offerings is so important, as it enables easily accessible insights into a highly complex history.
